Buhari’s Minister Contracts COVID-19
The Minister for Water Resources, Engr. Adamu Suleiman has disclosed that he tested positive for the coronavirus disease but is currently receiving treatment.
The Minister made the disclosure on Tuesday when he spoke virtually via zoom at the flag-off of the National Youth Volunteer Programme on Clean up Nigeria campaign.
Suleiman who urged Nigerians against treating the issue of the virus non-challantly warned that nobody is immune to the virus.
He added that all prescribed health protocols recommended by experts must be followed to ensure the safety of all Nigerians from the pandemic.
In his words, “The issue of COVID-19 is a very serious and critical issue and our people must not take it lightly. The volunteers should pass this message. We as Ministers are not immune to the pandemic.
“The reason why I am not with you physically today is because I am still recovering from treatment on account of COVID-19 infection. We thank God that I am doing very well. It is a living testimony to all others that nobody is immune.
“The high and mighty; the high and low; the big and the small, everybody is vulnerable. We should work hard to ensure that we present this disease in our communities. Keep all the protocols and when the time comes to take the vaccine, please do not hesitate to do so.”
In other news, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has scheduled a nationwide protest for Wednesday, 10 March over moves by the National Assembly to remove the Minimum Wage from the Exclusive List to the Concurrent List.
Naija News understands the removal will allow state governments to determine what they want to pay their workers without regard to the national minimum wage.
The NLC and its allies have however rejected such plans and have scheduled a protest to drive home their claims.
According to a statement on Tuesday from the NLC headquarters in Abuja, the protest will start from the Unity Fountain Abuja at 7:30 am and proceed to the National Assembly complex.
