AFCON: No Harm In Travelling By Boat – Pinnick Tells Eagles

President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick, has backed Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr by saying said there is no harm for the players to travel by boat to the Benin Republic.

Naija News understands that the Nigerian National Football team will be playing against Benin in the African Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday, March 27 in Port Novo

Speaking earlier, Coach Rohr noted that the team may have to go by boat to avoid the dilapidated roads that link Nigeria and the neighbouring country.

He said: “But because the road is not good between Lagos and Cotonou, we will travel to the match on a boat because the crossing only lasts two hours, instead of many hours on poor roads,”

The decision, however, raised concerns among the players with a different opinion. However, speaking during a live programme on ARISE News on Wednesday morning, Pinnick said he sees nothing wrong with what Rohr said.

He said: “Going to Cotonou by boat, I do that all the time. When we were going to inspect we did it. There is nothing wrong with exploring other forms of adventure in Nigeria.”

The NFF president, however, noted that the nation’s football governing body is yet to reach a conclusion on the means of transporting the players for the AFCON game.

Meanwhile, Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has debunked trending rumours linking him with taking over and replacing embattled Ronald Koeman as the new Barcelona coach.

Naija News reports that the Spaniard while responding to the rumours, disclosed that he is very happy with the Gunners in London.
