Jangebe Schoolgirls: Kidnappers Proposed Marriage To Us

Schoolgirls abducted from the Government Girls Secondary School in Jangebe, in Talata Mafara LGA of Zamfara State on Tuesday disclosed that their abductors professed love to them.

The students while speaking with DailyTrust noted that the bandits gave out their phone numbers to them and vowed to reach out to confirm if they have accepted the marriage proposal.

One of the schoolgirls identified as Hassatu Umar Anka, said their abductors advised them to abandon school so they could get married.

“When we were about to be released, some of them came and starting pointing at us and saying, ‘We love some of you and we want to marry you if you would accept our proposal’. You shouldn’t be wasting your time schooling,” she said.

She further stated that the bandits are very scared of the military and whenever fighter jets hovered in the air, they sought cover.

“They nicknamed the fighter jet “Shaho” (hawk) and if they see one, they would ask us to hide under caves or trees. It really frightens them,” she added.

In a related development, the name of the bandit leader responsible for the kidnap of the students of the Government Girls Secondary School in Jangebe, Zamfara State has been revealed.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, one of the released students explained that the name of the bandit leader is Kasalle Or Yaya.
