Who Is In Charge Of Nigeria As Both Buhari And Osinbajo Travel Out Of The Country?

A Lagos-based lawyer, Olusegun Bamgbose has alleged that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is no longer a part of the major decision-making process in the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to him, Osinbajo has been frozen out of the inner caucus which makes decisions for the Buhari government, and cabals are making all the decisions now.

Bamgbose on Monday, described the development as worrying and embarrassing, adding that the Vice President is no longer consulted for his opinion on national issues before decisions are taken and is not allowed to express his views in public.

“It’s quite embarrassing that the Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has been left out of the scheme of things,” Bamgbose declared in a statement.

“He is not consulted or allowed to air his views about the security situation of the country.”

Speaking specifically on the security situation in the country, Bamgbose said he believes Osinbajo would have found a solution if given the opportunity but the cabals within the Buhari-administration have shut him up and are playing politics with the lives of innocent Nigerians.

He lamented that the increase in the spate of kidnappings and killings by bandits, terrorists, and other criminals is getting to an unacceptable level but the federal government looks helpless in curbing the crimes but look more interested in paying ransom to the bandits.

“I have this strong feeling that he knows what to do to suppress the bandits, but most unfortunately, he is not carried along in the scheme of things. The cabals seem to be playing politics with the lives of the citizens. How can a government be paying ransom to bandits all the time?” he queried.

“The insecurity situation ravaging the entire country is quite worrisome. The Federal Government seem to be helpless as killings, abductions and kidnappings continue unabated.

“The situation no doubt has seriously affected the foreign investments. Foreign investors are no longer interested in Nigeria in view of the security challenges.

“Many have strongly criticized the Buhari’s administration for poor handling of the situation, but no visible and positive change. Things are getting worse day by day.

“The bandits are on a daily basis wrecking havoc on the citizens. The security agents are confused as to what to do to curtail the nefarious activities of the bandits and gunmen,” he said.

However, the Presidency has stated that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government should be commended for tackling security challenges rocking the nation promptly.

This was stated on Monday by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, while speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today’ programme.

He stated that the Buhari-led federal government would tell Nigerians if it pays any ransom to secure the release of the over 300 schoolgirls abducted by bandits in Jangebe in Zamfara State.

Femi Adesina stated that the federal government is willing to do anything to secure the release of all Nigerians in captivity “without compromising the sovereignty of the country”.
