Boko Haram Withdraws From Dikwa After Killing Five Soldiers

Boko Haram terrorists have withdrawn from Dikwa in Borno State after invading the community for few hours and killing five soldiers, military sources told SaharaReporters.

Dikwa town which is about 90km from Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, and has experienced several attacks from Boko Haram.

Naija News had earlier reported that the insurgents stormed the village on Monday night and asked residents of the community not to run away.

It was gathered that the terrorist who came with heavy machine guns and trucks also took possession of the military Super Camp 9 formation, including high-profile fighting equipment and vehicles.

Military sources that spoke on the incident noted that five soldiers were killed while some Armed Personnel Carriers, operational vehicles and the local military base were burnt by the terrorists.

The group also burnt some public buildings, including the community primary health care centre, local government secretariat, part of Shehu of Dikwa’s palace and the United Nations hub.

In another development, Nigeria President, Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday, declared Zamfara a ‘no-fly zone’ and banned all mining activities in the state.

The National Security Adviser, Maj. Gen Babagaba Monguno, while announcing the development in Abuja noted that it is part of the measures to tackle the security challenges in the north-western state.
