A group known as the Anti-Corruption Network has submitted a petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), the US Embassy, British High Commission, and Transparency International against the Yahaya Bello-led Kogi government.

Naija News gathered that former Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye, is a member of the anti-corruption group.

The group, in its letters, said its investigation revealed that the Yahaya Bello administration engaged in corrupt practices in awarding contracts, borrowing from non-capital market, circumvention of procurement procedures among others.

We have meticulously investigated and uncovered huge financial fraud carried out by Kogi State Government, the Governor of Kogi State and his cohorts from 2016 – 2019,” the letter obtained from Politics Nigeria reads.

Meanwhile, the Department of State Service (DSS)  has invited officials of Cattle and Foodstuff dealers under the aegis of the Amalgamated Union of Foodstuff and Cattle Dealers of Nigeria (AUFCDN) for blocking the movement of food items from the North to the South.

Naija News reports that the union had embarked on a nationwide strike over the weekend, thereby blocking foodstuff and cattle from entering the southern part of the country.

The union said it would be sustained till the federal government attends to their demands, which border on payment of N475 billion compensation for lives of members and property lost during the #EndSARS protest and Shasa market crisis.

Speaking at a press briefing at Labour House, Abuja, on Monday, General Secretary of the union, Ahmed Alaramma, the DSS has quizzed the President of the Association, Mohammed Tahir.

He, however, condemned the action of the secret police, warning the service against intimidating members and taskforce of the union.

Alaramma advised the government to avert looming chaos by stopping the intimidation of their members.
