Again, Gunmen Kidnap Catholic Priest In Imo Community

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have attacked Katcha community in Katcha LGA of Niger State, abducting a female and two men in the early morning of Sunday.

Shop owners, especially beer parlour operators, at the outskirts of the town behind the DPO’s official residence were targetted by the gunmen.

According to Daily Trust, the bandits attacked the town around 1am, operated for three hours without hindrance and went away with the three victims.

It was gathered that operatives of the Nigerian Police could not come to the rescue of the community until the end of the operation.

The bandits were said to have come in their numbers with AK 47, magazine and rocket launcher.

Confirming the incident, Katcha LGA chairman, Alhaji Mohammad Baba Nna, said: “the incident happened around 1am and lasted for three good hours. They went away with three persons who are businessmen in the town and we are yet to hear from them.

“They came with very sophisticated weapons and I am sure that’s why the policemen were afraid of coming to their rescue during the incident.”
