The location of the 317 schoolgirls abducted from Government Girls Junior Secondary School Jangebe, Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State in the early hours of Friday has been disclosed.

According to credible sources that spoke with Daily Trust, the abductees have been sighted at Dangulbi Forest.

Recall that gunmen in the early hours of Friday invaded the school and abducted over three hundred students whose age were between 12 and 16 years old.

A teacher in the school who spoke with the news platform on the condition of anonymity noted that only 50 students were left behind out of the 600 students of the school.

However, the Zamfara State police command claimed that 317 students were abducted, while the Zamfara State Commissioner of Information, Alhaji Sulaiman Tunau Anka, said the exact number of abducted students was yet to be ascertained.

It was gathered that security agencies and officials of the state have established the identity of the girls’ abductors.

A credible source close to the efforts to secure the release of the schoolgirls noted that the window of dialogue has been opened to discuss with the armed bandits.

One of the sources said, “The schoolgirls are being held at Dangulbi Forest in Maru Local Government Area.”

The source who spoke on the condition of anonymity said the mystery behind the abduction would soon be revealed.

The forests between Dangulbi and Maru are known enclave of bandits who for years have been terrorising residents of neighbouring villages.
