Zamfara Abduction: Don’t Use Bullets To Fight Bandits – Garba Tells FG What To Do

Former presidential aspirant and chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Adamu Garba has lamented that the government is not taking the right action in addressing the security challenges in Nigeria.

He made the submission on Friday in his reaction to the report on the abduction of students from Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe in Talata-Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Garba in his submission argued that attacking bandits and other insurgents with bullets can’t solve the problem as the issues which caused criminal activities in the country are based on the perceived injustice of the elite northerners on the ordinary people.

In a series of Tweets, he argued that even the United States military can’t use bullets to overcome security challenges in Nigeria except the fundamental issues relating to social neglect are first addressed.

He wrote, “We can stay here and keep trending #RescueJangebeGirls #Rescue*****, as long as we refuse to accept that the insecurity in the North is pushed by the high level of injustice by the northern elite against the ordinary people, not even U.S DoD can fix this issue with bullets.

“It is in all available records that Boko Haram emerged 90% out of social neglect than ideology. It seems we haven’t learned a lesson.”

“Instead of us to try & correct the problem, we went with state power to fight & kill.”

“The political elites can keep pretending. But as long as the deep level of neglect & injustice has reached a point of betrayal of trust.”

In other news, prominent Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has revealed that another faction of bandits in Zamfara State is responsible for the abduction of some students of Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe, Talata-Mafara Local Government Area of the state.

In an interview with The Nation, Gumi said the bandits he recently met with inside Zamfara forests were not responsible for the kidnap of the schoolgirls.

The prominent cleric had earlier met with the bandits in Zamfara where about 500 were reported to have repented in Shinkafi local government area.

Sheik Gumi and his delegation also met with bandits at Sububu forest and Pakai forests to accept the amnesty granted to them by the state government.
