What Fani-Kayode Said About Military Plane Crash

Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has expressed sadness over the plane crash that took the lives of seven Air Force personnel in Abuja on Sunday.

A military aircraft King Air 350 crashed close to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja runway after reporting engine failure.

It was gathered that the military plane was en route to Minna, Niger State for a rescue operation relating to the abduction of the student of Government Science College, Kagara.

Confirming the crash in a post on Twitter on Sunday, the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika announced that the accident appears fatal.

The plane belonging to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF201), a B350 aircraft departed Abuja at 1033UTC with 6 persons on board including two crew.

Aircraft reported engine failure at time 1039 and crashed landed on the final approach path of Abuja Runway 22 at time 10:48UTC.

Reacting to the sad incident in a tweet via his Twitter page on Sunday, Fani-Kayode described the plane crash as a sad and horrific tragedy of monumental proportions.

The PDP chieftain commiserated with the families of those that were killed in the crash and prayed that God should comfort them at this time of tragedy.

He, however, called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances and cause of the crash.

He wrote: “The plane crash that took the lives of 7 of our compatriots in Abuja today was a sad & horrific tragedy of monumental proportions.

“My prayers are with the families of those that were killed. I call for a thorough investigation into the circumstances & cause of the crash. RIP.”
