The Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, on Friday, ordered the arrest of cattle seen on the streets of Akure, the state capital.

The All Progressives Congress Governor noted that the directive was given to reiterate his administration’s decision to ban open grazing in the State.

Akeredolu stated this while speaking on TVC.

He said, “We are banning open grazing. If I see a cow I will arrest it. They can’t move in Akure town. We wouldn’t allow it. It is not going to happen. We must put an end to it”

Recall that suspected Fulani herdsmen killed Dayo Ibiyi, a cousin to the Senior Special Assistant to Akeredolu on New Media, Gani Muhammed-Ajowa

Ibiye was killed on his farm in Ajowa community in Akoko North West Local Area of the State.

Meanwhile, former Minister of Culture and Tourism Femi Fani-Kayode has asked the government to allow farmers to carry AK-47 rifles to protect themselves from killer Fulani herdsmen and other criminals.

Recall that Bala Mohammed had said Fulani herdsmen carry firearms to protect themselves against cattle rustlers who attack, kill and take away their possessions.

The Bauchi governor slammed the South-west for refusing to accommodate herdsmen.
