Former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode has condemned the Nigerian Army for bombarding camps occupied by members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) in Orlu, Imo State.

It was gathered that the strike started on Thursday morning and has worsened the already built-up tension in the areas.

A video of the aerial bombardments on Thursday surfaced online, with fresh tension and anxiety building in the communities.

Confirming the military operation, the army spokesperson of the 34 artillery Brigade, Obinze, Owerri, Imo state, Babatunde Zubairu, said the locals were not being harassed.

He confirmed the deployment of helicopters and other military gadgets in the operations. The army spokesperson said that the operation was an offshoot of military intelligence.

The PDP chieftain asserted that shedding innocent blood is not the way forward and called on the Nigerian Army to show restraint.

“The bombing & killing of innocent men, women & children in Orlu, Anambra state by soldiers of the Nig. Army is totally & completely unacceptable & I wholeheartedly condemn it. Shedding innocent blood is not the way forward & I call on the Nigerian Army to show restraint,” he wrote.
