Details of how bandits attacked Government Science College, Kagara in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State in the early hours of Wednesday have emerged.

According to a witness of the attack, the gunmen broke into the staff quarters of the school before raiding hostels at about 2:00 am.

Speaking with Daily Trust, the witness said the bandits, who were dressed in school uniforms and disguised to be members of the school, overpowered the security guards at the school and started shooting sporadically.

He said that the gunmen gathered some staff and students at a place for hours before moving them out of the school premises to an unknown location.

The witness added that at least one student is feared killed, and several other students abducted. It was gathered that one of the abducted staff, simply identified as Batagi, was said to have escaped from his captors.

Some of those who are still in captivity were identified as Lawal, Ali, Hannatu, and her husband, Dodo, and Mohammed Abubakar(Akawu).

However, it was learned that security agencies are currently on the trail of the bandits in order to secure the release of the students and staff of the school.

According to reports, an aircraft of the Nigerian Air Force has been hovering in the air to track the location of the students.
