Buhari Sends Troops To Rescue Kagara Students

President Muhammadu has deployed troops and police to rescue students and staff of the Federal Government Science College in Kagara, Niger State who were abducted by gunmen.

He instructed them to make sure that the students and other hostages were rescued without delay.

“After receiving the report, President Buhari instructed the military and police to ensure that all hostages are rescued as soon as possible.

“He has also deployed senior security officials to Niger State where they will meet state government officials, community leaders as well as parents of students and staff of the college,” the presidency said.

Kidnapping at Kagara School

At around 2 pm on Tuesday, gunmen attacked the Federal Government College of Science, Kagara, Rafi Local Government Area of ​​Niger State.

The assailants raided staff dormitories, dormitories, gathered them in one place, and drove them into the desert to an unknown location.

An eyewitness said the attackers shot a student who tried to escape during the attack at around 3 pm.

Security officials met with authorities

The security operatives who will be leading the rescue operation have already met with Niger State Government officials, community leaders as well as parents of students and school officials.

“The president also assured the military of his full support in the fight against terrorism and militancy, saying they should do everything possible to contain the situation and end the attacks. on schools in the future.

“Our prayers are with families of the victims of this attack,” presidential spokesman Garba Shehu said in a statement on Wednesday.

42 people were abducted at a Kagara school

At around midnight, attackers stormed the school, stormed staff quarters and dormitories, and abducted 42 people.

Hours after the abduction, Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello immediately closed secondary schools in four of its Local Government Areas until further notice.

He said the hostages included 27 students, 27 staff, and their families of 23 people.

The closed Local Government Areas are Rafi, Munya, Mariga, and Shiroro.

The governor appealed to the public to help with any information that would help in rescuing the students and other hostages.

The kidnapped

School authorities are still collecting information on the remaining students at the school to determine the number of hostages.

A source said one of the school staff managed to escape from the hands of the kidnappers.

She said the victims included Lawal, Ali, Hannatu and her husband, Dodo, and Mohammed Abubakar (Akawu).

Security forces have been tracking down the gunmen as a military plane flies overhead to find out the whereabouts of the attackers, students, and teachers.
