4 Injured As Gas Explosion Rocks Lagos State

The Kano State Police Command says two persons have suffered varying degrees of injuries in a gas explosion that rocked Hasiya area in Badawa layout on Monday morning.

According to the Spokesman of the command, Abdullahi Haruna, a 35-old-old housewife, and one-year-old baby were injured in the explosion which happened in a residential building.

Haruna disclosed that the explosion was caused by domestic cooking gas in the early hours of Monday morning, precisely 6:30am, adding that the explosion partially destroyed properties and part of the building

The police spokesman said that the two victims have been admitted at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, where they are currently receiving medical attention.

He noted that the command dispatched a team of experts to the scene following a distress call from a resident of the area.

The police spokesman asserted that the explosion damaged two cars parked within the compound, and partially damage part of the building.

Haruna, however, appealed to the good people of Kano not to panic but to go about their daily chores and advised residents to be more careful when handling cooking gas, especially during the ongoing harmattan season.
