Three people have been killed by gunmen in Bassa Local Government Area of ​​Plateau State.

The men were shot late Sunday on their way home, Punch reported.

The leader of the Irigwe Youths Movement, Ezekiel Bini, told the Punch newspaper that the victims were on their way from Ri-bakwa when they were overrun by the bandits around 7:30 pm.

He said three people died instantly while one person sustained serious injuries but was receiving treatment at a hospital.

Ezekiel said after shooting the men, the gunmen entered the village of Zirshe where they set fire to some houses before fleeing.

“It was yesterday evening (Sunday), four of our people who were returning to their homes at Nkedorong village were attacked by gunmen suspected to be herdsmen.

“The natives of Irigwe ethnic extraction were on their way home from Ri-bakwa to Rikwe-Chongu area when they came under attack around 7:30 p.m.

“Unfortunately, three of them died during the attack while one person escaped with gunshot wounds.

“Those that were killed were Ezekiel Maja, 29; Emmanuel Agaba, 30; and Moses Daburu, 26, while Mr. Bitrus Ezeh, 42, sustained an injury in his right leg.

The state police said it was investigating the matter and the commissioner of police had called a stakeholder meeting to find a solution, according to Punch newspaper.
