Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen have reportedly killed three farmers within the Ijugbere axis of Owo Local Government Area, Ondo State.

Confirming the incident in a text message to DailyPost, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu on Agriculture, Akin Olotu, said the farmers were killed on Saturday evening.

Governor Akeredolu’s aide also described the killing as unfortunate.

Olotu said “Those blaming Governor Akeredolu for saying the illegal occupants should vacate the forest should bury their heads in shame”

The Spokesperson of the State Police Command, ASP Tee- Leo Ikoro has not confirmed the killing.

Meanwhile, the kidnapped female reporter of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Mrs. Chidiebere Onyia, has regained her freedom.

Naija News gathered that Mrs. Onyia was released from captivity by her abductors on Sunday by 12noon.

Though it was not clear whether the family paid a ransom, her husband reportedly informed some of her colleagues in NTA that the woman had been set free.

Though the police were yet to confirm the development, Mrs. Onyia’s colleague, who spoke to TheNation, confirmed it.

She said: “She was set free by 12noon on Sunday. We are happy that she was released unhurt”.
