Ex-Katsina Council Chairman Arrested For Working With Bandits

The Katsina Police Command has arrested the former Caretaker Chairman of Jibia Local Government Area of the state, Haruna Mota, for colluding with bandits in carrying out attacks in the state.

Spokesman of Katsina Police Command, Gambo Isa, made this while speaking to journalists on Sunday, February 7, 2021.

Gambo said the ex-chairman has been arrested and charged to court for aiding and abetting banditry and other sundry crimes in the state.

He added that the culprit was incriminated in a leaked video conversation with the bandits over the recent abduction in the state.

Gambo said an audio recording that went viral recently implicated the ex-council chair in a discussion with one of the bandits’ leaders over the recent abduction of Kankara students.

Gambo further disclosed that the ex- caretaker chairman has already been charged to court.

He said: ’’Yes, he has been arrested and charged to court for conspiracy, aiding and abetting, and terrorism.

‘’But I cannot confirm whether he was the mastermind of Kankara students’ abduction.”
