Leave 2023 Presidency And Tackle Insecurity, Wamakko Tells Northern Govs

Former Governor Sokoto State, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko has faulted the position of two chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and Bisi Akande, on the membership registration and revalidation exercise of the party.

Recall that Tinubu, the national leader of the APC alongside the party’s founding Chairman, Akande had faulted the registration exercise, describing it as an aberration.

Akande had faulted the decision of the party leadership to call for revalidation of the party’s membership register less than ten years after the party was initially formed in 2014.

He noted that if not properly managed, handpicking the leadership of any political party might spell danger for such a party.

The APC chieftain added that calling for an update of the membership register less than ten years after the formation of the party is an aberration that should not be taken lightly by the leaders.

Also speaking on Saturday, Tinubu said he would endorse Akande’s position on the ongoing membership registration and revalidation exercise.

The APC national leader also described the exercise as a waste, urging the party leadership to embark on true reconciliation.

But speaking to reporters on Saturday after revalidating his membership at the Gidan Ja’oje polling unit in Wamakko, Sokoto State, Wamakko said the party would come out stronger after the ongoing exercise.

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Defence noted that the APC would also remain united despite all the challenges facing the party.

Wamakko, however, commended the dissolution of the party executives at the state level, saying that it was done to reposition the party and prepare it for the 2023 general elections.

The former governor also gave kudos to the National Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee under the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State for leading the party well.
