I Didn’t Say Foreign Militias Were Used To Prosecute 2015 Polls – Baraje

How PDP Can Win Kwara Back In 2023 - Baraje

Former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abubakar Kawu Baraje has denied saying that foreign militias were brought into the country and used to prosecute the 2015 general elections.

The PDP chieftain made this known in a statement released from his media office on Sunday in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

Baraje described the media reports that claimed he said that certain people brought in militias from Mali and other neighboring countries as fake news, outright falsehood, and imagination of the concerned reporters.

He noted that he never said anything like that during a press conference he addressed in Ilorin to mark his 70th birthday recently.

The PDP leader added that he was quoted out of context and wondered where the said reporters got their report from. He asked the reading public to discountenance the report credited to me.

Baraje expressed satisfaction that most media establishments whose representatives were present at the event gave the proper account of his submissions on national issues.

I urge the reading public to discountenance the report credited to me to the effect that some people invited militias from Mali, Sierra Leone and other West African countries to Nigeria to help them win the 2015 general elections.

“To say the least, the reports were concocted to smear my hard-earned reputation. I’m a nationalist who is always passionate about the peace and unity of our dear country, Nigeria.,” he said.
