RIvers: Suspected Ritualist Arrested While Attempting To Sacrifice Minor

A suspected ritual identified as Achor has been apprehended while trying to sacrifice a nine-year-old girl in Ibaa community, in the Emuoha Local Government Area of Rivers State.

It was disclosed that the parent of the minor had raised alarm after she went missing when she went to dispose of refuse in a nearby bush.

A source who spoke on the incident noted that Achor took the minor to an abandoned compound and was about performing the ritual when he ran out of luck.

It was disclosed that the suspect tied the nine-year-old girl with white cloths, applied white clay on her body, while a coffin was already stationed for the ritual purpose when he was caught.

He was caught by military officers who were searching for the girl after she went missing and he was taken into custody.

He was later handed over to the police in Rumuji. The development was confirmed by the spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni.

Omoni, noted that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Joseph Mukan, has directed that the suspect be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and possible prosecution.

“Yes, I can confirm it. He has been transferred to the SCIID under the directive of the state Commissioner of Police for further investigation,” Omoni added.
