BREAKING: I Didn’t Say Buhari Has Disappointed Nigerians – Tunde Bakare

The Serving Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has denied saying that President Muhammadu Buhari has disappointed Nigerians.

Recall that during an interview on Tuesday with the publisher of Ovation Magazine, Dele Momodu, the former vice presidential candidate had said the President has failed Nigerians and not met the expectations of Nigerians.

He had said: “The truth of the matter is it is still the same Buhari, in the midst of many competing interests, we respond differently. The President is still himself, some have even asked me if he is not somebody else.

“Power changes people, has power changed him or is he making the best situation of the circumstances? He will be the one to answer it

“The expectations of Nigerians, including everyone who woke up to say we need a breath of fresh air, has not been met. There is a feeling of disappointment.

“Citizens have right to demand for good governance. People deserve the government they get.”

But while appearing on Arise News on Thursday, Bakare said he was misquoted during the Live Instagram interview on Tuesday.

The cleric added that the newspapers decided the headlines with which to sell their papers , adding that those were not the exact words.

He said: “I did not use the words ‘Buhari has disappointed Nigerians’. I will not ask the papers not to sell their papers using any headline. Sometimes they make their own deduction from what was spoken.

“I chose to be moderate in all that I say. Except I have concrete facts, I do not just talk.

“But Are Nigerians disappointed? It’s everywhere, every day. You see it in the news. When expectations are not met, people will express their frustrations. It is natural and normal.

“But that does not mean this administration has not done anything good at all and, therefore, should be consigned to the dustbin of history.”

The cleric reiterated that there is a general feeling of disappointment among Nigerians who expected change, adding that Buhari is still the same person and has not been changed by power.

The popular pastor noted that President Buhari is trying his best to resolve the crisis between the farmers and herders in the country, adding that the crisis will soon be resolved.

Speaking further, Bakare asked the federal government to ban open grazing in the country in order to resolve the Fulani herdsmen and farmer clashes in some parts of the country.

he said: “Let’s be very careful not to tear this country apart and I am appealing to men of goodwill to rise to the occasion.

“There are four issues involved in this matter that I have considered and that by the grace of God as soon as I have the opportunity, I will also bring to the attention of Mr President and I know his ministers and those in government will be doing the same with him.

“One of the issues is open grazing. It is obsolete and it needs to end, it needs to end because the nations of the earth had gone beyond this. I was in Glasgow, I was in Israel, there are so many things that we can do about agricultural pastoralism that would stop all the troubles in our land.

“We’ve lived with Fulani and Fulani have lived with us across our lands, we must separate this agricultural pastoralism from the second thing – the terrorists in the forests. The government must fish out the criminals.

“We must be careful of indiscriminate violence and separate terrorists in the forests from agricultural pastoralism. Those who are invading other people’s farms must be stopped. If our laws do not stop them and if property rights are not respected, then the government is not doing what it should do.”
