Obasanjo Copied What I Said Against Buhari-Tinubu Ticket In 2015 – Fani-Kayode

Former Aviation Minister in Nigeria, Femi Fani-Kayode on Saturday said he was the first to speak out against a Muslim-Muslim ticket between President Muhammadu Buhari and Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in 2015.

He said the Muslim-Muslim ticket would have been a deep insult to Nigerians and that was why he spoke out against it.

Fani-Kayode spoke out in reaction to the submission by a former military administrator of Lagos State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, who said former President Olusegun Obasanjo stopped the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, from becoming the running mate to President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.

Fani-Kayode however in reaction to the news, said he blew the whistle before Obasanjo or any other person spoke against the move.

He insisted that he is proud of what he did and wouldn’t want history to be distorted.

He tweeted: “OBJ spoke against it but I was the first. I blew the whistle before anyone else. OBJ spoke only AFTER I wrote my essay warning about the dangers of a Muslim Muslim ticket.

“We must not distort history. I am proud of the role played then and I did it for Nigeria and for my faith. A Muslim Muslim ticket in 2015 would have been a deep insult to Christians and it would have torn Nigeria apart.”

Meanwhile, former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has revealed why he shunned the Peoples Democratic Party South-West leaders’ meeting to reconcile with the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.

The meeting which was held at the Oyo State Government House, Ibadan had Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, former Osun State Governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola; former Ekiti State Governor, Mr Segun Oni, Senator Abiodun Olujimi, Makinde, and others in attendance.

Fayose, his supporters, and some party leaders in Oyo State who are supporting the candidacy of Eddy Olafeso as the National Vice-Chairman of the party in the region were absent at the meeting.

The former Governor’s aide, Lere Olayinka, when reached out noted that his principal wanted to attend the meeting with his supporters but they would not sit on the same table with Oyo State Governor because of his statements.
