Photos, Names Of Lawmakers That Joined APC From APM In Ogun

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, and other members of the All Progressive Congress in the state on Thursday, January 28 welcome new members from the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

Naija News reports that the Minority Leader of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Ganiyu Oyedeji, alongside six other lawmakers dumped APM to join the Nigeria ruling party in the state.

The defectors as revealed by the speaker of the Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo, yesterday include Oyedeji, Musefiu Lamidi (Ado Odo Ota 11), Yusuf Amosun (Ewekoro), Sikiratu Ajibola (Ipokia), Bolanle Ajayi (Yewa South), Adeniran Ademola (Sagamu 11) and Modupe Mujota-Onikepo (Abeokuta North).

Naija News understands that Yusuf Amosun is a nephew to the immediate past Governor of Ogun State, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun.

Welcoming them into the ruling camp, Governor Abiodun urged the lawmakers to be law-abiding. The governor tagged the defectors as ‘homecoming’, noting that they once left APC as a result of a disagreement, but now returned home.

“You have not come back through coercion or by force. Remember you will be criticised for coming back,” the governor said. He again reminded the defecting lawmakers that he did not in any way treat them differently in the past 18 months while they were in the other camp.

“We will ensure you enjoy all the benefits that our members enjoy,” Abiodun promised.

On his part, Oluomo said the return of the lawmakers is a symbol that Abiodun’s achievements in getting everyone on board.

“our great party is totally and fully in charge of the State House of Assembly all due to your ability to manage the people of the State,” he noted.

The defectors in their remarks appreciated the governor for what they termed “his inclusive policy, promising to contribute their quota to the socio-economic development of the State.”

Naija News understands that APC now has 22 of the entire 26 lawmakers that make up the statehouse.

Meanwhile, the All Progressive Congress (APC), Ondo State chapter has suspended a former governorship aspirant in the state over anti-party activities.
