NYSC Roles Out New Policy For Prospective Members

The National Youth Service Corps has announced the exemption of 2020 Batch A corps members from camp resumption.

The development was confirmed on Thursday, January 28 on the official Twitter handle of the NYSC, Naija News reports.

The tweet reads: “2020 Batch A Corps members serving in Borno State are exempted from the Camp resumption.

Though Mr Femi Adetunji, NYSC media officer, when reached on the phone refused to explain why the decision was taken, this online news platform suggests it could be as a result of the recent increase in number of cases of COVID-19 disease and also the issue of insurgence in the region.

“They are those that could not finish their camping before the coronavirus broke out,” Adetunji’s short response read.

He added: “It does not affect this current batch. We have been bringing them back to camp in batches.

“Some of them have been recalled in the last two camps. So, the last set is the one being recalled to camp now. But that information is just for those in Borno State. All others are going to camp in other states.”

Meanwhile, the Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech) has confirmed that its Director of Academic Planning, Mr. M.A.O Omoighe, has died following complications from COVID-19.

Omoighe died on a Sunday, January 24, 2021, at an undisclosed hospital, Naija News understands.
