Osun 2022: What Adeleke’s Victory Will Do For PDP - BoT Chair, Jibrin

Sarkin Fulani, Senator Walid Jibrin, has advised Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State to reverse the quit notice he issued to Fulani herders to leave the forest reserve in the state.

Naija News reports that the decision has generated huge controversies since the seven-day ultimatum was issued last week.

However, in a meeting on Monday, governors of the South West agreed to ban night grazing in the region and stop open grazing in order to stop farmers/herders clash.

But in a statement on Wednesday, Senator Jibrin asked the governor to dialogue with the herders and come to a compromise with them.

The Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) also advised Akeredolu not to allow an inter-ethnic crisis in the state.

“The quit order given to all Fulani herdsmen residing in Ondo forests to evacuate from the state immediately should be reversed and allow the Fulani elders, security outfits, and governors forum to handle this matter peacefully and amicably.

“As a prominent Fulani leader, myself, and responsible elder statesmen, I am making all efforts to invite all Fulani Associations to come together for useful discussions and a truce that will solve this matter without any fight or war.

“We have been living peacefully in Nigeria since after the Biafran War.

“May I congratulate all our state governors for their efforts in handling the Fulani herdsmen issues, hoping that the problems will soon come to pass,” Jibrin said.
