Amotekun Arrests Four Kidnappers From Sokoto In Ekiti

Four Hausa/Fulani men suspected to be kidnappers have been arrested in Ekiti State by the state chapter of the South-West local security outfit, Operation Amotekun.

Naija News understands that the criminals after their arrest confessed to being herdsmen from Sokoto State.

Giving more details about the operation that led to their arrest, the Corps Commander, Joe Komolafe said the herders who confessed to having moved to the South-West to be carrying out ‘professional kidnapping’, were nabbed in Eda Oniyo, Ilejemeje Local Government Area of the state.

The names of the suspects were given as Abubakar Sule, Sheu Usman, Abubakar Babangida, and Sheu Mamuda.

“Our men on routine patrol intercepted these four persons suspected to be kidnappers on Friday morning. They claimed to have come from Sokoto state. Upon questioning, they said they were heading to Akungba Akoko in Ondo state but with no clear mission here,” Komolafe revealed.

He added: “What we found on them clearly gave them away as suspected kidnappers and also with their confession.”

Komolafe said the Amotekun corps when done with the suspects would hand them over to the police for further investigation.

Meanwhile, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State said his government will not allow anyone to cause an ethnic crisis in the Southwest state.
Makinde disclosed this on Friday when he received the new state Police Commissioner, Ngozi Onadeko, who paid a courtesy visit to him in his office, Naija News reports.
