Police have confirmed the arrest of three members of a notorious criminal gang knows as the ‘Shilla Boys’ in Yola the Adamawa State capital.

The arrest was confirmed in a statement on Thursday by the spokesperson of the Adamawa State Police Command DSP Sulaiman Nguroje.

He explained that the suspects, all aged between 18 and 35 years usually disguise as commercial motorcycle operators and have been terrorizing residents in some areas of the Yola North Local Government.

Nguroje explained further that the gang members were arrested following credible intelligence made available to the Police on January 20 about the movement of the gang members.

“The Police Command immediately deployed its operatives and successfully arrested three members of the Shilla boys,’’ he said.

Part of the items recovered from the arrested suspects includes one tricycle, knives, and cutlasses believed to be part of the dangerous weapons they use in their operations.

The Police spokesperson noted that the gang members are being investigated for criminal conspiracy and armed robbery and would be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.

Meanwhile, the District Head of Mayo-Farang and the Sarkin Noman Adamawa in Adamawa State, Mustafa Ahmadu, has regained freedom, Naija News reports.

Recall that Ahmadu was kidnapped at about midnight on Monday in Mayo Farang, a few hours after he returned from a trip to Abuja.

Confirming the release of the monarch, the Police Spokesperson in the state, Suleiman Nguroje, said Ahmadu was released on Tuesday by his abductors.

He added that the traditional ruler has been reunited with his family “in good condition”.
