Troops of the Nigerian Military deployed under the Operation Accord have neutralized two notorious armed bandits in Kaduna State.
This was confirmed by the Defence Headquarters in an update on Tuesday, 19th January contained in a statement by the Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Major General John Enenche.
Enenche disclosed that the bandits, who were killed on Monday after troops acted based on credible intelligence had been terrorizing residents and road users along the Sabon- Iche- Kagarko road in Kaduna State.
He added that the troops have continued surveillance monitoring of the area and won’t relent in their efforts to ensure the safety of residents and their property at all times.
The DHQ statement reads: “Following actionable and credible intelligence on movement of bandits, troops of Operation ACCORD, yesterday, 18 January 2021, successfully neutralised 2 armed bandits along Sabon- Iche- Kagarko road in Kaduna State.”
“Own source affirmed that the suspects are part of the notorious bandits that have been terrorising the area.”
“The gallant troops have continued to dominate the area with aggressive patrols to deny bandits freedom of action.
“The Armed Forces of Nigeria will not relent until all enemies of the Country are neutralised and normalcy is restored to all troubled zones.”
In a related development, President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday assured Nigerians of his government’s commitment to security, economy and anti-corruption.
Buhari in his statement promised that the Federal Government would continue to ensure the enthronement of democracy and good governance in Africa.
President Buhari stated this while speaking at the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Committee of Heads of State and Government in the African Peer Review Mechanism (APR Forum) and Nigeria on the ongoing Second Peer Review Process.
He said, “We remain fully committed to promoting the good governance practice enshrined in the ideals and vision of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development which gave birth to this review mechanism.”
