MKO Abiola: Ex-Army Chief, Buratai Messages Tinubu On Democracy Day

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen., Tukur Buratai, has commended Nigerian troops for repelling a Boko Haram attack on a military base in Borno State on Friday.

Naija News had reported that suspected insurgents attacked 153 Infantry Battalion and the 22 Armored Brigade in Marte community and raze down public buildings.

The terrorists in their hundreds stormed the recently resettled community in the northern part of the state on Friday evening, shooting from all angles and forcing returnees to flee their homes into the bushes.

But in a statement on Sunday by the Army spokesman, Brigadier General Sagir Musa, the Army chief hailed troops of Operation TURA TAKAIBANGO and the Air Task Force Operation Lafiya Dole for engaging the insurgents.

He also commended the gallant troops for destroying gun trucks and decimating a number of the terrorists. Buratai noted that the heroic and patriotic actions of the soldiers resulted in the successes recorded.

The Army chief, however, urged the troops to maintain the momentum to ensure the speedy final defeat of Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in the country.
