A former lawmaker representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani, has condemned the quit notice issued by a Muslim group to the Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Matthew Hassan Kukah.

Naija News had earlier reported that the Muslim Solidarity Forum asked Kukah to apologize to the Muslim community over his Christmas Day message or leave Sokoto State.

The call was made by the acting Chairman of the forum, Prof Isa Maishanu, in a statement released in reaction to Kukah’s message.

Reacting via his Twitter page on Wednesday, Shehu Sani urged the Muslim group to engage Kukah in a debate instead of issuing threats.

The former lawmaker also asked the group to approach the issue peacefully instead of issuing a quit notice to the Bishop.

He wrote: “My Dear Muslim Forum Sokoto, go in peace and meet Kukah in his Parish, engage him in a debate and defeat or win him over with your superior argument; be a tolerant host, no need to threaten or ‘expel him’. Don’t set a precedent for ‘Quit noticing the messenger.”
