Gunmen Kidnap Catholic Priest, Others In Fresh Attack In Enugu

Unknown gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed two people in Kizachi Village of Kauru local government area of Kaduna state.

The victims were ambushed by gunmen between Bakin Kogi and Narido village, as they made their way from Bakin Kogi Market on Monday evening, Daily Trust reports.

The military operatives under the auspices of Operation Safe Haven, according to the statement from the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, responded to a distress call and arrived the location to find two persons – Musa Garba and Yakubu Yawo – shot dead.

Two others – Monday Joseph and Jacob Thomas – sustained gunshot injuries.

Governor Nasir El-Rufai expressed concern at the report of the attack, and sent condolences to the families of the bereaved, while praying for the repose of the victims’ souls, and a quick recovery for the injured.

Meanwhile, troops of the Operation Sahel Sanity have eliminated 10 bandits during recent operations in Katsina State.

One soldier, however, died while two others were wounded as confirmed to newsmen on Tuesday in a statement by the Acting Director, Defence Media Operations, Brigadier General Bernard Onyeuko.

He added that the wounded soldiers are responding well to treatment at the hospital.

According to the acting defence spokesperson, the troops also arrested two associates assisting the bandits, and recovered some weapons during the operations.
