Wike Is A Controversial And Rascally Politician But I’m His Senior Brother – Okorocha

Former Imo State Governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha has praised Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike as a dogged and astute politician.

He added that Wike is a controversial Nigerian politician known for his political rascality and doggedness.

Speaking on Monday during the commissioning of Rumueche/Rumuakunde Ohna Awuse Road in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, Okorocha added that he is a senior brother to Wike but may not possess the notorious behavioural pattern of the Rivers State Governor.

“You are one of the most controversial politicians in Nigeria because of your political rascality and doggedness and astuteness,” Okorocha said.

“I am here as your senior brother but please do not attribute me to the behavioural pattern of Wike. Rochas is simple and decent and I am not as controversial, though sometimes I am being tagged for those iberiberised politicians,” he added.

Okorocha who arrived in Rivers State yesterday as a guest of Wike, commended the Governor for completing projects started by his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi despite their political differences.

He, therefore, used the opportunity to call on political leaders across the country to always put aside their personal and political differences in the interest of the people.

“On arrival since yesterday, I have made my personal inquiries. One of the shocking things you have done in Rivers State despite the Real Madrid Academy, The Fun Place, Mother And Child Hospital, the flyovers, one thing you have done is to make government a continuum.

“In other words, there is no difference between the past governor and present governor. By continuing to continue the projects of your predecessor, even when you are not the best of friends, this is highly commendable,” the Imo West Senator said.

Meanwhile, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu again on Sunday, defended the decision of President Muhammadu Buhari to continue keeping the current service chiefs despite several calls for their removal from office.

The presidential media aide also maintained that contrary to what critics want Nigerians and the general public to believe, President Buhari is fully in charge of his government.

Mallam Shehu made the submission on Sunday as a guest on TVC interview programme, titled ‘Politics on Sunday.’

In his submission, he noted that the appointment and firing of service chiefs is purely the prerogative of the President, adding that Buhari is seeing what others are not seeing about the service chefs, hence his decision to retain them in office.

He added that President Buhari has put an end to ground corruption in Nigeria which the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had entrenched during its sixteen-year rule between 1999 and 2015.
