Ebonyi State Police Command has confirmed an attack on a police station in the state which led to the death of three police officers.
The attack on Onueke Police Station in Ezza South Local Government Area of the State saw two other operatives sustain bullet wounds
It was reported that police officers were attacked by suspected hoodlums who stormed the police station on Friday night.
The slain officers were identified as two inspectors and one female who was relaxing in her room when the hoodlums struck.
According to Information gathered, the hoodlums carted away two AK 47 rifles during the attack.
The incident was confirmed by the spokesperson of the command, Loveth Oda.
Oda while speaking on the incident disclosed that the corpses of the slain officers have been deposited in a mortuary while the two who sustained bullet wounds are receiving treatment.
She called on the general public to provide the police with information that could lead to the arrest of the attackers.
“Yes, three policemen were killed in the attack. We don’t know the identity of the attackers yet; and we are calling on the general public to provide information to the police in order to hunt down the perpetrators of this heinous crime”, Odah said.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Philip Maku, visited Onueke Police Station on Saturday morning to ascertain the level of havoc done by the hoodlums.
He vowed to fish out the hoodlums who attacked the police station.
The Commissioner for Internal Security in the state, Stanley Okoroemegha, noted that the government is saddened by the situation.
Okoroemegha gave security agencies forty-eight hours to brief the government on how such a breach could have occurred without any intelligence to forestall it
