The Benue State Government says Governor Samuel Ortom has gone into self -isolation.

The Deputy Governor, Engr. Benson Abounu, made this known at the Armed Forces Interdenominational service held at the ECWA Church, Makurdi, on Sunday.

Abounu said his principal decided to go into isolation after coming in contact with a certain Permanent Secretary and his family members who tested positive for the virus.

The deputy governor, however, noted that the governor will remain in isolation for the stipulated number of days until a test shows he is negative.

Abounu revealed that Ortom has been in isolation for about 9 days and has shown no symptoms or signs of the virus.

He noted that Ortom’s doctors should be able to certify him free and he will resume work by Monday.

Naija News reports that this is the second time the governor would go into isolation since the pandemic got into Nigeria.

Ortom had in July 2020 gone into isolation when his wife, Eunice Ortom, son, and some of the wife’s personal aides contracted the dreaded virus.
