Gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed many people and carted away herds of cattle during an attack on Dada village in Zamfara State.

According to residents who spoke to Daily Trust, dozens of unidentified gunmen arrived on motorbikes firing at residents after they blocked all escape routes.

A resident who gave is name as Ali Shuaibu said: “The armed bandits came on motorbikes and asked all residents to remain indoors. Some of the residents got killed when they were trying to escape the assault.

“As I’m talking I can’t tell you the exact number of those killed. The armed criminals had fled after the security operatives arrived at the community and we are now searching the surrounding bushes for bodies.

“Some of the residents are still missing. They might be hiding inside forest but we are still counting losses incurred from the attack.”

The spokesman of the state police command SP Muhammad Shehu could not be reached for comment at the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, Several people have been confirmed dead as operatives of the Oyo State Security Network, Amotekun clashed with some Fulani Herdsmen in Aiyete area, Ibarapa North LGA of the state.

It was gathered that the clash occurred in Okebi village on Saturday morning which led to violence and chaos in the area.

According to an eyewitness, several houses were also burned down and over seven people have been confirmed dead.

“Alhaji Usman Okebi and his two sons were killed. We don’t know what caused the fight. Some persons were shot and injured.”
