Popular Nigerian human rights activist and co-convener of the Bring Back Our Girl (BBOG) movement, Aisha Yesufu has hit out at Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai for the recent demolition of a business outfit in the state over an alleged sex party that never held.

The activist lamented how the Governor could claim to be promoting private investments in the state when existing businesses are been victimized.

Yesufu spoke on Saturday in an interview with the Punch against the backdrop of the demolition of Asher Lounge by the Kaduna State Urban and Planning Development Authority (KASUPDA) based on an allegation of plans to host an illicit party.

Naija News recalls after initially claiming the building was pulled down over plans to host the sex party, KASUPDA made a u-turn and claimed the demolition was done because the building had no development permit and also violated COVID-19 protocols.

On Wednesday, the state government also arraigned those arrested in connection with the botched party for offences including “attempted adultery”.

Reacting to the developments, Aisha described the actions of the Kaduna State government under El-Rufai as “absolutely absurd,” and an injustice to the masses.

She said: “What right does the state government have to demolish somebody’s building because there is going to be a sex party at the place? For example, anyone of us can have a house in Kaduna and somebody puts an address online for a sex party and the next thing, the government goes to demolish it? It is absolutely absurd. It’s really pathetic the way state governors seem to take laws into their hands, they are just behaving anyhow.”

The activist argued that “the emotional investment, the financial investment, everything invested in the business was brought down just like that. And this is a state that prides itself on getting people to come in to invest. Every year it holds the Kaduna Investment programme where it encourages people to come in to invest in the state. And here it is, in its action, saying to people that it can wake up in the morning and bring down their business buildings and all their investments.”

Meanwhile, the Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked the former state Governor, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, to stop deceiving the Presidency and his party, All Progressives Congress, (APC) with fake defections.

Naija News had reported that the Senate Chief Whip reportedly received thousands of PDP members into the APC at his country home in Igbere.

But in a statement on Friday in Umaihia, the state capital, state PDP Publicity Secretary, Fabian Nwankwo, asked the former governor to stop massaging “his dwindled ego” before the presidency and the APC at the national level.

The PDP accused the lawmaker representing Abia North senatorial district in the National Assembly of deceit and mischief. The party also Kalu to stop misleading the public with fake defections.
