Man Who Allegedly Abduct, Slits 12-year-old Girl’s Throat Arrested In Delta

A kidnapped victim in Delta State, Blessing Imeh, 12, has identified one of her abductors who smacked her and slit her throat to point of death.

The State Police Command in a statement by its spokesperson, Onome Onovwakpoyeya, on Thursday, January 7 confirmed it arrested of one middle-aged man identified as General for allegedly partaking in the devilish act.

Naija News understands that Imeh had gone missing on January 1, 2021, while running an errand for her parents.

She was, however, discovered a few days later inside a pit behind their apartment where she was dropped by her abductors. Police operatives had launched a manhunt on the perpetrators of the devilish act which happened in Abraka, in the Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.

After many days of fruitless search, Imeh was found on Tuesday, January 5, still breathing with her throat slit inside the pit behind their house, Naija News reports.

It was reported that her cry inside the pit attracted another child, who raised the alarm. After her rescue, Blessing confessed that one of their neighbours identified as General was among the three men that abducted her.

Onovwakpoyeya told reporters that General is now in their custody while the victim had been taken to a hospital.

“The young girl was stabbed at the back and her throat was slit, but she’s alive and receiving treatment at the moment. She said three people lured her, but she could identify one who is a carpenter and their neighbour. The carpenter, called General, has been arrested and effort is being made to arrest other suspects,” Onovwakpoyeya noted.

Meanwhile, one Mela Samaila, a former Church security guard has been arrested by men of the Nigeria Police Force in Ogun State for stealing church offering box, Naija News reports.
According to the report confirmed to newsmen by the state police spokesman, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspect invaded Grace Nations Church (Liberation City) where he used to be a guard and do away with the offering box containing an undisclosed amount of money.
