Governor Ifeanyi Okowa-led government has directed all public and private primary and secondary schools in Delta State to resume on January 18, 2021.

This is coming after the state government had earlier directed schools in the state to resume on January 11.

The development was disclosed in a statement released by the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr Patrick Ukah, and shared on the official Twitter handle of the state government on Friday.

The Commissioner called on parents in the state to ensure their children are prepared for the resumption date as they will immediately face tests on January 20, 2021.

Naija News had earlier reported that Nigerian universities have been warned not to violate the full cycle of their semester academic system as schools reopen after many months of closure due to COVID-19 pandemic.

The directives were contained in a statement which copy was made available to newsmen by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

The directives were issued as the academic commission directed vice-chancellors of universities to resume academic activities on January 18. The development is in accordance with the directive of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19
