The bail application filed by the Publisher of SaharaReporters, Omoyele Sowore and four others was on Friday stalled after the Police failed to produce the defendants at the Chief Magistrate Court, Wuse 2, in Abuja.

The Police on Monday had arraigned the defendants for alleged criminal conspiracy, unlawful assembly and inciting public disturbance.

On Tuesday, Chief Magistrate Mabel Segun-Bello fixed Friday, January 8, 2020, to rule on the defendants’ bail application.

However, on Friday, the police failed to bring Sowore and the other defendants to court.

He explained that the DIG who was called to produce the defendants claimed to have handed the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution on the instruction of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF).

Mr Sowore was arrested alongside four protesters during a #CrossOverProtest held on the eve of new year in Abuja.
