The aide to President Muhammadu Buhari on social media, Lauretta Onochie has expressed hope that individuals and groups will stop reporting Nigerian leaders to the United States authorities.

She said this in her reaction to developments in America on Wednesday where violent pro-Trump supporters stormed the capitol building in a bid to stop the electoral college confirmation of Joe Biden as America’s president-elect.

Some pro-Trump supporters had caused confusion in Washington DC on Wednesday as their protests eventually turned violent with many world leaders and political observers describing what happened as a disgrace.

In the wake of the pandemonium, a curfew was declared on Washington DC, capital of the United States of America by the mayor of the city Muriel Bowser on Wednesday and Joe Biden urging Trump to call his supporters to order and respect democracy and the choice of the people at the polls.

Onochie who took to her Twitter account to react to the developments, expressed the opinion that people will stop threatening and rushing to report happenings in Nigeria to the USA after what happened in America.

She wrote: “Seriously speaking, I hope that after today, we will no longer hear nor read about any individual nor group threathening to report Nigeria to America

But In the midst of it all, its great to see some Republicans standing solidly by the people.”

Trump made this known in a statement on Thursday after the US Congress affirmed the electoral victory of former Vice President, Joe Biden.

The declaration comes after the United States Congress on Thursday confirmed the electoral victory of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in the 2020 US election.

Naija News reports that Biden’s 306 electoral college votes were confirmed as the US Congress also confirmed Trump scored 232 votes.

The US electoral college votes affirmation was presided over by Vice President Mike Pence and Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

The counting of Vermont’s three electoral votes put Biden and Harris over the 270-threshold needed to win the presidency.
