Nigeria’s Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, says a court of competent jurisdiction appointed a sole administrator for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

Akpabio made this known on Thursday when he received representatives of the Forensic Auditing team in his office in Abuja.

According to the minister, the appointment of Effiong Akwa as the sole administrator of the commission was not an official appointment made by the Federal Government.

The minister said the appointment was as a result of a court order issued by Justice A.R. Mohammed of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Akpabio said the appointment of Akwa was not permanent and would only last the duration of the Forensic Auditing after which a board would be inaugurated.

The minister, however, commended the auditing team for their good works and for coming to submit a progress report of the on-going Forensic Auditing of the NDDC.

He also praised the management team and staff of the Ministry for completing a lot of development projects in different states of the Niger Delta which includes the 50km road in Edo State, Skill Acquisition Centers in Cross River, Ondo, Akwa-Ibom, and others with provision for underwater welding.
