US Lawmaker Tests Positive To COVID-19 After Vaccination

A United States lawmaker, Kevin Brady, has tested positive for COVID-19 shortly after he received the first dose of the vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech.

In a statement via his Twitter page on Tuesday, Brady, a Republican member of the US House of Representatives, said he contracted the virus shortly before he was due to receive the second dose of the vaccine.

The Texas lawmaker noted that he is currently in isolation after receiving his COVID-19 results on Tuesday night.

Brady said he received a first dose of the Pfizer vaccine on December 18 and also recently tested negative for COVID on New Years Day.

He wrote: “Tonite the Office of House Physician informed me that I’ve tested positive for COVID-19 and am quarantined.

“As recommended, I received a first dose of the Pfizer vaccine on December 18 and also recently tested negative for COVID on New Years Day.”

Naija News reports that the vaccine’s regimen is two doses per patient 21 days apart.

The US Government has authorised two coronavirus vaccines for emergency use — Pfizer’s and the one developed by US pharmaceutical company Moderna.
