Court Orders Sowore, Others Detention, Adjourns Till January 8th

A Magistrate Court in Wuse 2 Abuja has ordered the continued detention of the publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, and others.

Naija News reports that Mabel Segun-Bello, in her judgement on Monday, also adjourned the case till January 8, 2021.

Mr Sowore was arrested alongside four protesters during a #CrossOverProtest held on the eve of new year in Abuja.

After spending four days in police detention, the protesters were arraigned before the Wuse Zone 2 court by police on Monday on three charges of criminal conspiracy, unlawful assembly, and attempting to incite others.

The magistrate court was supposed to hear the bail application filed by the defence but Ms Mabell, after listening to the counsels of the parties involved, again ordered that Sowore and other protesters be transferred to Force CIID in Area 10, in Abuja.

Meanwhile, gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed one person and kidnapped 20 others travelling to Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

Naija News understands that the individual killed was a former education secretary of Nasarawa LGA, Malami Salihu.

It was gathered that the victims were abducted on Tuesday afternoon while travelling along Mungi sharp Conner Buga Gwari, Gadabuke area of Toto LGA in three vehicles.
