Arsenal is yet to offer a new contract to their French striker, Alexandre Lacazette, club manager, Mikel Arteta has disclosed.

Arteta revealed that contract talks with the player are on hold until the end of the season.

“No, we haven’t talked about anything related to his contract,” he told Sky Sports in response to a question on renewing contract talks with the striker.

“We will talk in the summer and make a decision on what is going to happen.

“I’m delighted with the way he’s performing, the goals he’s scoring and the form and energy he’s got at the moment, so he needs to keep doing that,” he added.

Naija News reports the 30-year-old striker has 18 months left in his current contract but has been instrumental in the recent turnaround in form for the Emirates outfit.

He has scored five goals in the last four games for the Emirates club.

Meanwhile, Chelsea football club management is reportedly on the verge of replacing the club’s first-team coach, Frank Lampard, following a 3-1 brutal home loss to Manchester City yesterday.

Naija News understands that the Blues were beaten at their home by Pep Guardiola’s side on Sunday, January 3 in their English Premier League clash.

The unpleasant development saw Chelsea slip down to the 8th position in the 2020/2021 league table.

So far, the club has only won one out of their last seven matches in all competitions, this online news platform understands.
