Speaking during his 2021 New Year message to Nigerians on Friday, President Buhari said he holds no grudge against any Nigerian who thinks his administration has failed to secure the lives and properties of its citizens.

2. Sowore, Others Arrested By Police In Abuja

The publisher of the Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, has been reportedly arrested again by men of the Nigeria Police Force.

According to a report by Sahara Reporters on Friday morning, January 1, 2021, policemen suspected to be with the Rapid Response Squad stormed Gudu junction in Abuja and went away with the activist.

President Muhammadu Buhari in a new year day speech on Friday outlined his plans for Nigerians in the year 2021.

4. Nigerian Teachers Union Warns Against Reopening Of Schools

The Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) has warned the federal government not to reopen schools across the country on January 18.

The group’s secretary-general, Dr Mike Ike-Ene, who made the announcement in an interview with Punch newspaper, said there was no need to rush back to school, as long as there was an increase in COVID-19 infections.

Ike-Ene announced that if COVID-19 infections continue to increase, teachers will stay home.

5. ‘Internally Displaced Politician’ Okorocha To Dump APC – Uzodinma

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma has alleged that Senator Rochas Okorocha is planning to dump the All Progressives Congress but wants to destroy the party before leaving.

Uzodinma added on Friday, January 1 that Okorocha is an ‘internally displaced politician’ who is fast losing relevance and therefore making unfounded claims to make the news.

The Governor made the submissions in a statement through his Senior Special Assistant on Print Media, Modestus Nwamkpa in response to earlier claims by Okorocha who accused Uzodinma of failing to carry along political leaders in the state and the region in his administration.

6. Buhari’s New Year Address Lacks Strategy, Direction– PDP

The major opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, on Friday, noted that the 2021 New Year address of President Muhammadu Buhari lacks strategy and direction.

The party noted that the statement of the president shows that Nigeria is heading to a failed state.

“As a president, President Muhammadu Buhari has not demonstrated the capacity to play his own part, as he claimed, having failed to find a solution for the security and economic challenges that pervade our nation under his incompetent and lethargic watch,” the PDP said in a statement on January 1, 2021.

The popular cleric stated this on Thursday night during a physical crossover service at the church’s headquarters in Canaanland, Ota, Ogun State.

Speaking on a message ‘We Are On The Way To Our Promised Land’, Oyedepo also stated that when the church goes against a man, his destiny is finished.

According to him, the COVID-19 pandemic was produced by the devil to attack the church.

10. Buhari Restates Vows to #ENDSARS 5 for 5 demands

President Muhammadu Buhari has said restated his commitment to implementing the five demands made by youths during the #ENDSARS protests that swept across the country in October.

President Buhari made the promise in his New Year message, stressing the fact that “Our young people are our most valuable natural resource, at home and abroad.”

He made the pledge on the solemn reality that he is the elected President and Commander-in-Chief of the country, calling the youths the most valuable resources.
