1. President Buhari Signs 2021 Budget Into Law

Nigeria President, Muhammadu Buhari, on Thursday 31st December 2020, signed the 2021 Appropriation Bill into law.

The signing ceremony was held inside the President’s office at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

2. President Buhari To Address Nigerians On Friday

Nigeria President, Muhammadu Buhari, will on Friday deliver his New Year message to Nigerians through a national broadcast.

The development was disclosed in a statement titled ‘President Buhari makes New Year broadcast.’ and released by the President Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.

3. FG Lifts Suspension On Replacement Of Old Sim Cards

The federal government of Nigeria has suspended its earlier directive which banned the registration and replacement of old sim cards.

This development was made known on Thursday, 31st December in a statement by the Association of Licensed Telecoms Operators of Nigeria (ALTON).

The statement signed by the ALTON Chairman, Engr Gbenga Adebayo, and its Publicity Secretary, Mr. Damian Udeh, noted however that the replacement and activation of old Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) cards can only be done on the condition that the person must have enrolled and obtained the National Identification Number (NIN).

4. Troops’ll Descend Heavily On Boko Haram, Bandits In 2021 – DHQ Warns

The Defence Headquarters have warned Boko Haram terrorists, bandits, kidnappers and other criminals to repent before 2021.

Speaking to newsmen on Thursday, the Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. John Enenche, warned them to desist from their devilish acts.

He warned that the Nigerian military has changed tactics and strategies and will become ruthless in 2021.

5. CAN Sends New Year Message To Nigerians, Reveals Action Point For 2021

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has told Nigerians that abiding in the secret place of the most high is the way citizens can have a glorious 2021.

CAN in a statement by its National President, Rev. Dr. Samson Olasupo A. Ayokunle on Thursday noted that despite the many challenges of 2020, 2021 is set to be a better year.

Quoting the bible in Psalm 91, Ayokunle explained that dwelling in the ‘Secret Place of the most high’ to overcome all challenges of this year means living according to God’s instructions.

6. Only Naive, Visionless Politicians Will Dump PDP For APC – Atiku

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has berated politicians that dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He also urged the main opposition party to remain united to secure electoral victories in 2023 general elections.

Atiku made this known while speaking at a political event organised at Afikpo South LGA in Ebonyi South Senatorial zone by Engr. Dr. Onuoha Nnachi.

7. We’ve Lost Faith In Buhari’s Govt – Arewa Consultative Forum

A Northern political and cultural association, Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), has berated the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration over the rising case of insecurity in the country.

Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television on Wednesday, the National Publicity Secretary of the ACF, Emmanuel Waye, said the forum has lost faith in the President to secure the nation.

According to Waye, the worsening level of insecurity in the country is highly regretted, noting that everything possible should be done to stop the killings and kidnapping in the North.

8. Why I Want President Buhari Impeached – Rivers Rep, Chinda

The lawmaker representing Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Kingsley Chinda, has revealed why he is calling for the impeachment of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Chinda, a factional caucus leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the House of Reps, said his call for Buhari’s impeachment was not out of hatred or anything personal.

The lawmaker from Rivers State revealed that he wants the president impeached for the best interest of Nigerians.

9. Ortom Bombs President Buhari Over Christmas Day Message By Bishop Kukah

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has told President Muhammadu Buhari to listen to the words of wisdom contained in the Christmas day message by Sokoto Diocese Bishop, Matthew Hassan Kukah.

The Governor in a statement on Wednesday noted that Bishop Kukah spoke the truth which is a reflection of current happenings in the country and the mind of most Nigerians.

Ortom in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase declared that those attacking Kukah over the statement are only sycophants who don’t want the President to see reality.

10. Biafra: Kanu And His IPOB Team Do Not Mean Well For Ndigbo – Coalition

Leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has come under attack by a coalition of South-East groups for his position on the establishment of a regional security outfit named Eastern Security Network (ESN).

The group in their submission said Kanu doesn’t represent the true interests of the region and is only out for personal gains.

They also condemned his attack on governors from the region whom he blamed for not supporting the regional security outfit he floated.
