1. Presidential Aide Keeps Mum On Whereabouts Of First Lady Aisha Buhari

The spokesperson to the First Lady of Nigeria, Mrs Aisha Buhari, Aliyu Abdullahi has disclosed that as a citizen, the President’s wife is entitled to her own privacy.

He noted that if the First Lady chooses not to reveal her present location or speak on national issues at the moment, she is entitled to her choice as a private citizen of the federal republic of Nigeria.

Abdullahi, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity (Office of the First Lady) made the submission on Tuesday when he appeared as a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme monitored by our correspondent.

2. Bishop Kukah Speaks On Calling For A Coup, Denies Plan To Join Politics

Bishop of Sokoto Catholic Diocese, Mathew Kukah, has denied calling for a coup in his 2020 Christmas message on the 25th of December.

The cleric at a press conference with selected newsmen held at St Bakhita Secretariat in Sokoto called on Nigerians to understand his message rather than relying on different lies attached to his name.

Bishop Kukah further stated that his message on Christmas day was based on his love for the country and has no political or ulterior motive.

3. Obasanjo Reveals Those To Blame For Nigeria’s Problems, Says God Not Responsible

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has stated categorically that God can not be blamed for the present condition in which Nigeria as a country has found itself.

While acknowledging the many challenges facing the country, Obasanjo submitted in a statement on Tuesday which contained his 2021 message to Nigerians that both the leadership and followership have their share of the blame in Nigeria’s current predicament.

The message released from his Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, Ogun State urged Nigerians to work and pray for the nation to become better, noting that with Nigeria’s enormous resources, the country has no business with poverty.

4. Nigerian Military Airstrike Kills Several Terrorists In Sambisa Forest

The Nigerian Military has executed a successful airstrike on Sambisa forest in Borno State which resulted in the death of several terrorists.

This development was confirmed in a statement on Tuesday, 29th December 2020 by the Coordinator Defence Media Operations, Major General John Enenche.

According to the military spokesperson, the operation took place on Monday, 28th December, and was conducted by the Air Task Force of Operation LAFIYA DOLE.

5. ‘Bandits Entering Nigeria Through Oke Ogun’ – Makinde Raises Alarm

The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has raised the alarm that bandits are entering the country through the international border in the Oke Ogun axis of the state.

Naija News understands that the borders in Oke Ogun have been porous for so many years and smugglers use these borders to bring in contraband goods into the country.

Speaking during a visit to the palace of the Okere of Saki, Oba Khalid Olabisi, where he met with traditional rulers from Oke Ogun Zone 1, the governor condemned the porous nature of the borders.

6. COVID-19: FG May Ban UK, US Flights Next Week

The National Assembly has hinted that a decision is in the pipeline that may result in the ban of flights from the UK and US into Nigeria as from next week.

This development was made known to newsmen on Monday by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Aviation, Senator Smart Adeyemi who added that relevant agencies are working out the details.

7. 2023: I Still Have A Role To Play In Politics – Jimi Agbaje

The Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2015 and 2019 elections in Lagos State, Jimi Agbaje, on Tuesday, noted that he still has a role to play in politics in his state and Nigeria as a whole.

Agbaje who has been defeated twice by governorship candidates of the All Progressives Congress, however, state that his political ambition is not at all cost.

He further stated that time and event would tell what political office he would be contesting for come 2023.

8. Arewa Youths Call For Bishop Kukah’s Arrest Over Coup Comment About Buhari

The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has submitted that the Catholic Arc. Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Hassan Kukah should be arrested for statements capable of inciting violence.

The AYCF in a statement by its National President, Alhaji Yerima Shettima, on Monday said Kukah’s statement is capable of destabilizing Nigeria and shouldn’t be treated with mild hands.

9. Reconcile Makinde, Fayose Now, PDP Tells Saraki Committee

The leadership of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has directed its Peace, Reconciliation and Strategy Committee to resolve the issue between Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde and former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose.

Naija News reports that the Peace, Reconciliation and Strategy Committee is headed by former Senate President, Bukola Saraki with former Gombe State Governor, Hassan Dankwambo; former House of Representatives Minority Leader, Hon. Mulikat Akande as members.

10. Alleged Certificate Forgery: Court Adjourns APC’s Suit Against Gov Obaseki

Further hearing of the alleged certificate forgery case against Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has been rescheduled for December 30, 2020.

Naija News reports that Justice Ahmed Mohammed, of the Federal High Court, Abuja, adjourned the hearing today, Tuesday, December 29 after admitting the document, an INEC form EC9 in evidence, as exhibit PL2.
