The Special Adviser to Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State, Divine Amina Arong has tendered her letter of resignation before the governor’s office.

Naija News understands that the governor’s aide on Presidency and National Assembly Matters revealed her interest in a letter she addressed to the governor on December 29, 2020.

Arong in the letter delivered to governor Ayade through the secretary to the state government, Bar Tina Banku Agbor, noted that her resignation is with immediate effect.

“I hereby tender my resignation as the Special Adviser to the governor of Cross River State on Presidency and National Assembly Matters from today, the 29th day of December 2020” and the reason for resigning is personal,” said Amina Arong in the letter.

However, the state government is yet to react to the resignation letter by Arong as at the time this report was given.

Naija News understands that there has been no mutual relationship between Governor Ben Ayade and Amina in recent times over alleged political differences.

It was gathered that the feud resulted in a series of litigation between Ayade’s faction and Jarigeb Agom Jarigbe group. Prior to the incident, the Deputy Treasurer of PDP was said to have been the anchor lady for Ayade’s faction in the national secretariat of the party while the battle for the soul of PDP raged.

However, the feud became more serious after Governor Ayade and Amina fell out over issues relating to her official duty, as well as the outcome of wards, local government congresses and Cross River Northern Senatorial by-election.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, Kelechi Igwe, has advised his principal to run for president in the 2023 general election.

Naija News reports that since the defection of Governor Dave Umahi from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in November, there had been speculations that Umahi is planning to contest for the presidency if the ticket is zoned to the South-East.
