The spokesperson to the First Lady of Nigeria, Mrs Aisha Buhari, Aliyu Abdullahi has disclosed that as a citizen, the President’s wife is entitled to her own privacy.

He noted that if the First Lady chooses not to reveal her present location or speak on national issues at the moment, she is entitled to her choice as a private citizen of the federal republic of Nigeria.

Abdullahi, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity (Office of the First Lady) made the submission on Tuesday when he appeared as a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme monitored by our correspondent.

When asked about the current whereabouts of the First Lady during his appearance on the programme, Abdullahi refused to talk about the issue, noting that he was not on the show to talk about the private life of the President’s wife.

It added that the President’s wife does not have a plan to return back to the country anytime soon despite spending over three months outside the Nation.

Aisha Buhari had reportedly claimed that her reason for travelling out of the country is because her family is not secure in the Aso Rock Villa.

However, when asked further about the present whereabouts of Mrs. Buhari, the media aide insisted the matter is a private issue which is not open for discussion.

“Let me say it this way again, the first lady, although married to the President, nevertheless, she is a citizen of this country who is entitled to her own right to privacy.

“If she chooses not to speak on a particular subject at any point in time, she is entitled to her own right to privacy and that is where I wish to leave that issue as of now. That is her own right, and she did not choose to speak at this time,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Bishop of Sokoto Catholic Diocese, Mathew Kukah, has denied calling for a coup in his Christmas message on the 25th of December.

The cleric at a press conference with selected newsmen held at St Bakhita Secretariat in Sokoto called on Nigerians to understand his message rather than relying on different lies attached to his name.

Bishop Kukah further stated that his message on Christmas day was based on his love for the country and has no political or ulterior motive.
